Although our web server does log certain technical information automatically, such as the identity of your Internet Service Provider and your computer’s IP address, none of this technical information reveals your identity to us, and it is not associated with any personally identifiable information you may choose to provide.

When you send us email or letters we may retain those messages. When you telephone us we may retain notes on the conversation.

John Hagedorn is a retired technology company CFO. He worked at the CFO level for 15 years in technology and 8 years in transportation. Since 2001 he has consulted for 40 young technology companies, helping his clients analyze markets, develop financial plans, raise capital, license technology, cut burn rates, recruit professionals, manage exits and improve sales forecasting and other management processes.
In his consulting, John draws on his 35 years in finance which include long stints with large multinationals such as Philco-Ford, IU International and Intel, and later CFO assignments at venture-funded startups and newly public companies. He was VP Finance for P-I-E, Controller of Intel Components, Director of Finance & Administration & CFO for Intel Europe and then CFO for Data I/O, IC Works, C-Cube, and Premisys Communications.
John is a graduate of Yale and Harvard Business School. He is an entrepreneur-partner for Formative Ventures, and serves on the boards and advisory boards of a number of private companies.

Joseph T. Rodgers

Joe Rodgers has been involved in venture investing in pre-public companies since 1996, primarily focused on telecommunications, software and the internet. He is a founder and chairman of the board of RecordLinc, an internet-based software company for dentists. He was Executive VP, Finance, and CFO at Quantum Corporation (NYSE: QTM) from 1980 to 1996, by which time Quantum was a multi-billion dollar international disk drive company. Prior to Quantum he was Director and VP, Finance, at Braegen Corporation; Assistant VP of Finance at Plantronics Corporation; and VP, Finance, at Consolidated Video Systems. His experience also includes nine years at PriceWaterhouse where he worked in Brussels for several years.

While at Quantum he was on the Board of Directors of the American Electronics Association, was Chairman of its Silicon Valley Council, and chairman of the NASDAQ Issuer Affairs Committee. Joe has been on the Board of Directors of the San Jose Civic Light Opera and has been President of the International Jaycees of Brussels. He has been on the board of directors and an early round investor in a number of Silicon Valley startups.

He graduated with a B.S. in accounting from Florida State University and is a former CPA in California. Joe is an avid golfer who also enjoys skiing and scuba diving.

We do CFO- and Board-level work exclusively, mostly in the San Francisco Bay Area, but we are also engaged around the world.   We do not subcontract client work outside FLG, and it is very rare that we refer work outside the firm.  All partners are equal; there are no senior or junior partners, no junior staff, and we have no employees.  Our culture is highly collaborative, collegial and egalitarian.  We are all about delivering the best possible experience to our clients and their investors.

Sector experience:

Generally, we are fairly agnostic about sector experience, but we are interested in expanding the experience diversity of FLG in the areas of digital or social media, internet commerce, and mobile, among others.  Diversity in language skills, gender and age, among other factors, are also desirable.

Apart from your professional credentials, your compatibility with our culture and business practices is essential.  You will interview with each partner of the firm, and admission to the firm occurs after a rigorous background and reference check, followed by approval of the partners.  You should anticipate that this process takes several months.
