Cal Hoagland
Cal Hoagland has over 35 years of CFO and senior financial executive experience in late-stage private and public companies from multinational enterprise companies to high-growth start-ups.
Cal’s expertise includes leading strategic planning and execution, including preparing private companies to become public and successfully implementing and executing SaaS. He has executed $450M in debt and equity financings, helped integrate acquisitions as well as manage divestitures, and has participated in 7 successful IPOs.
Cal’s deep portfolio of financial leadership experience includes SaaS and other software companies, manufacturing companies (including networking and medical equipment and devices), telecom and consumer-oriented companies. He has been CFO and a senior financial leader at C3.ai, Tonal, Sophos, Heavy Construction Systems Specialists, MasterClass, Aktana, 8×8, Motive (formerly Keep Truckin), Malwarebytes, Survey Monkey, Imperva, Rocket Fuel, Meltwater, NeoPhotonics, Restoration Hardware, My Shape, SolarCity, JDS Uniphase, TiVo, Sigma Designs, Avanex, Freeborders, Interwave and Phasecom.
Cal has a solid track record of developing and implementing creative and innovative solutions to complex strategic, public company, and finance issues in order to grow the value of his client companies. He has successfully grown a myriad of venture-backed technology companies, preparing them for successful IPOs and other public and private equity and debt offerings.
He is a growth-oriented, trusted business partner to CEOs, boards, fellow executive leadership team members, cross-functional teams, investors, customers and vendors, and understands how to aggressively execute strategic objectives while managing cash, scaling operational controls and laying a solid foundation for growth.
Cal’s passions include organizational excellence, continuous improvement, team development, mentoring other CFOs, C-suite leadership team colleagues and key hires, and building cross-functional partnerships throughout organizations.
His roles have included leading finance, strategy, accounting, treasury, investor relations, legal, HR, IT, procurement and facilities teams.
Cal began his career in Public Accounting at Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers), received his BS in Accounting from San Jose State University, and is a CPA (inactive). He was one of a select group of 20 managers throughout Coopers & Lybrand recruited to a rotational program at the National Office’s SEC and Accounting Directorate.
