Greg Johnstone

Greg Johnstone joined FLG in 2021 with over 20 years of financial leadership experience with companies in development and early commercialization stages.  He has focused on technology-oriented businesses, particularly in healthcare (medical devices, imaging, and genomics-based diagnostics) but also in hardware, software, and professional services.

As a CFO, Greg serves as a trusted partner and sounding-board to CEOs.  He leads strategic and operational planning, delivers credible forecasts, negotiates deals and helps take distractions off the CEO’s plate.  His fundraising efforts have raised $250 million from VCs, banks, angels, and strategic partners, with instruments including preferred stock, convertible notes, warrants, venture debt, and non-dilutive structures.  In addition to leading the finance and accounting functions, Greg often oversees areas including IT, Facilities, HR, and Legal.

Prior to joining FLG, Greg consulted independently for 8 years as consulting CFO and/or financial advisor for multiple early-stage venture-backed companies.  Prior to consulting, Greg served as head of finance at Auxogyn (now Progyny, NASDAQ:PGNY) and Ventus Medical.  Previously, Greg was co-founder and CFO for Sensant, which was successfully sold to Siemens, where Greg led various M&A projects.  He began his career in engineering roles in the software industry, designing large-scale information systems for Fortune 500 companies and governments.

Greg earned a B.S. (with honors) in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley, a M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and an M.B.A. (magna cum laude and an Olin Fellow) from Babson College.  In addition to his native English, Greg is fluent in Swedish and Spanish.
