Mike Gandy

Michael Gandy joined FLG in 2019 and has over 25 years of senior financial management experience, and over 30 years dedicated to the MedTech sector, focusing on developmental and commercial stage companies in women’s health, gynecology, urology, cardiology, and orthopedics.

Mike’s broad operational foundation in Strategic Planning, Cost Accounting, Marketing, Human Resources, and Information Systems has enabled him to work effectively across traditional functional boundaries.  Mike brings value by integrating financial management expertise with his understanding of how successful businesses thrive to create an environment of teamwork, thereby breaking down organizational impediments to better achieve financial and operating objectives.  While focusing primarily on venture funded, developmental stage companies, Mike has raised nearly $150M in a combination of equity and debt, in mostly early stage raises.

Formerly, Mike was the CFO at Spinal Kinetics, the global leader in cervical and lumbar discs used by orthopedic surgeons to treat degenerative disc disease, where he led the company through the strategic and financial planning processes to position the company to begin selling in the United States.  Acquired by Orthofix (NASDAQ: OFIX) in May of 2018 for over $100M, Orthofix recently received FDA clearance to market its M6 cervical disc in the United States.

Previously, Mike was the CFO of Invuity, where in less than three years he led the hyper-growth  operation from annual sales of over $3M, through large scale commercial ramp-up to over $20M, and through its IPO in June of 2015, raising $48M.  During this time, Mike oversaw the implementation of an ERP system from QuickBooks, the build out and relocation of the company to a space three times the previous size, and the creation of a Finance and Accounting team prepared for the rigors of a public company.

Prior to Invuity, Mike focused on growing early and commercial stage companies to successful exits.  Novasys Medical, Bacchus Vascular, Kerberros Proximal Solutions, and Solarant Medical were privately held companies purchased by various strategic acquirers.

Mike earned his B.S.B.A in Finance from California State University, Long Beach, and an M.B.A. from California State University, Fullerton. Mike lives in the Dallas metro area.
