Tim Laehy joined FLG in 2015. He has over 20 years of senior finance and management experience in crypto currency brokerage and exchange, SaaS, enterprise software, hardware, and services covering multiple industries including Crypto Currency, Financial Services, Social Media, Digital Media, Cyber Security, Telecommunications, and Consumer Electronics. He has been a CFO at both private and public companies managing international and domestic operations. His experience includes building and managing all administrative functions along with providing leadership for growth companies.
During his career, Tim has raised over $3.5 billion through a variety of financings, including 3 IPOs on both NYSE and NASDAQ. He has led 12 public offerings and 11 private equity financings. His M&A experience includes three managed M&A exits and six acquisitions of VC-backed companies. His international experience includes structuring and managing operations in the EU, Latin America, India and China. His experience also includes SOX compliance, SEC Reporting and Compliance, Treasury, Tax, FP&A, Investor Relations, Legal/Contracts, IT, Facilities, and Human Resources. Tim has managed organizations of various stages and sizes; from start-ups with small staffs to large public companies with a staff of more than seventy.
Most recently Tim was the interim CFO at Coinbase from October 2017 through August 2018, where he drove financial operations and initiatives at the company, a venture-backed crypto currency broker and exchange based in San Francisco. Prior to Coinbase, Tim was the Chief Financial Officer of Livefyre, a venture-backed SaaS company based in San Francisco focused on digital content and experience management. Tim was instrumental in leading Livefyre through its acquisition by Adobe Systems in May 2016. Prior to Livefyre, Tim was the Chief Financial Officer of YuMe, a digital media software company focused on digital video advertising solutions, where he led its IPO in 2013.
Previous to YuMe, Tim was the Chief Financial Officer of Cloudshield Technologies, a venture-backed cyber security company acquired by SAIC in 2010. Prior to that, he held CFO positions at MetroFi, Collation (acquired by IBM) and Covad Communications, where he led its IPO in 2000.
Tim holds a BS in Business & Economics (magna cum laude) and an MBA (summa cum laude), both from State University of New York in Buffalo.
